Functions: –

1.) The teacher and/or CPC member will talk further with the child in an attempt to reassure him/her and to clarify and record what has happened.

2.) The CPC member, in consultation with the Principal, will decide whether, in the best interests of the child, the matter needs to be referred to counselor. Where there are concerns about possible abuse, the CPC member and Principal will inform the POCSO wing of the Police department.

3.) If a complaint about possible child abuse is made against a member of staff, services the member of staff may be removed from duties involving direct contact with pupils, and may be suspended from duty as precautionary measure pending investigations.

4.) In all cases, it will be explained to the child, about whom there is concern, that it may be necessary to pass information on to the CPC and perhaps other agencies. No promise of confidentiality can be given. Detailed records will be kept of all concerns and actions relating to suspicions of abuse.

HOW A PARENT CAN RAISE A CHILD PROTECTION CONCERN?

If a parent has a child protection concern they can follow the steps below:

Talk to the class teacher, If parent is still concerned, they can talk to the Principal or can talk to the designated member of CPC.

En-capsule the complaint and discussion with CPC member/Principal in a mail.

A child may suffer or be at risk of suffering from one or more types of abuse and abuse may take place on a single occasion or may occur repeatedly over time. They may give rise to concern but are not in themselves proof that abuse has occurred.

The designated Child Protection Committee (CPC) member in a school plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students. They are responsible for implementing and maintaining policies and procedures that protect students from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of harm. The CPC member also serves as a point of contact for students who experience abuse or neglect and works with school authorities to ensure that appropriate action is taken. Additionally, they may provide support and guidance to teachers and staff in identifying and responding to child protection issues and promoting a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.

The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged by any student, and judge its merit. The Grievance Cell is also empowered to look into matters of harassment. In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/suggestion box of the Grievance Cell.
 

Objectives

1.) Upholding the dignity of the school by ensuring strife free atmosphere in the school through promoting cordial Student-Student relationship and Student-Teacher relationship etc.
2.) Encouraging the Students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.
3.) Suggestion/complaint Box is installed in Academic Block in which the Students, who want to remain anonymous, put in writing their grievances and their suggestions for improving the Academics/Administration in the school.
4.) Advising students of the school to respect the right and dignity of one another and show utmost restraint and patience whenever any occasion of rift arises.
5.) Advising all the students to refrain from inciting students against other students, teachers and school administration.
6.) Advising all staffs to be affectionate to the students and not behave in a vindictive manner towards any of them for any reason.
7.) Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the institution. Any violation of disciplinary rules is urgently brought to the notice of the school Principal.
 

Mechanism for Redressal of Grievances of Students and Staff:

The school has the set mechanism for students for Redressal of their grievances as under:
The Grievances may broadly include the following complaints of the aggrieved students.
a. Grievance related to Victimization
b. Grievance related to Attendance
c. Grievance related to charging of fees
d. Grievance regarding conducting of Examinations
e. Harassment by colleague students or the teachers etc.
 

Procedure for lodging complaint

1.) The students may feel free to put up a grievance in writing/or in the format available in the admin department and drop it in boxes.
2.) The Grievance Cell will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents.
3.) The Grievance Cell will assure that the grievance has been properly solved in a stipulated time limit provided by the cell.
 
The final responsibility for grievance Redressal rests with the Principal of the School and the school expects that grievance Redressal be time bound and result oriented. Every grievance is expected to be resolved within a reasonably period.
